Venture for America, a national nonprofit aimed at educating and supporting young entrepreneurs via its two-year fellowship program, announced the appointment of Megan Butler to serve as its new director for its Pittsburgh-based operations.
As part of her new post, Butler is tasked with managing and building relationships across local startups, ecosystem supporters and Venture for America's national fellowship participants. Her top priority is to recruit and support local companies that are hiring graduates of Venture for America's latest fellowship class.
"I’m honored to represent Venture For America in the Pittsburgh community," Butler said in a statement. "Our city has a resilient entrepreneurial spirit and I’m looking forward to showcasing all that Pittsburgh has to offer current and future startup leaders."
Butler has been a Pittsburgh resident since 2011 when she attended Carnegie Mellon University to obtain a bachelor's in policy and management and a master's in health care policy and management. She's remained in the area ever since, most recently serving as an innovation manager at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
Since its 2015 launch in Pittsburgh, Venture for America said it has gone on to have more than 30 fellows work at 34 local startups and has supported organizations like Civic Champs and Honeycomb Credit, among others.
