Qwick, a Phoenix-based on-demand labor sourcing marketplace for food and beverage workers and their potential employers, announced its expansion into the Pittsburgh region. It's the company's 20th market since it launched in 2018.
With Qwick, job seekers working as independent contractors are able to find and apply for open food and beverage shifts that are available in their region in real time after completing a screening process that grants them access to the platform. Qwick in turn also offers a platform for employers looking to fill open shifts with workers who are ready to fill them.
Job seekers using Qwick are entitled to compensation that starts at $12.88 an hour across all shifts that are available on the platform and they can sign up to work for as many as they want and during the times they want to, assuming there are shifts available and that an employer accepts their work request.
“From bustling stadiums to the growing local hospitality scene, Qwick provides an accessible, easy way for businesses to bolster their staffing needs and gives local professionals the freedom to work when and where they want,” Jamie Baxter, Qwick CEO and co-founder, said in a press release. “We’ve already signed up more than 1,200 local hospitality professionals and are ready to transform how Pittsburgh works.”
The startup said in an email statement that it has more than 1,500 job seekers signed up on its platform and a dozen businesses looking for workers.
Qwick boasts it averages a 97% fill rate for open shifts across its platform. According to Crunchbase figures, Qwick has raised $19.1 million in investment funding to date and employs under 100 workers.
