Advanced Construction Robotics Inc., the Pittsburgh-based maker of the autonomous rebar tying robot named TyBOT, celebrated the completion of its first bridge project in Texas this month, the ninth state the startup has worked in since its founding in 2016.

In total, ACR's TyBOT finished 101,564 ties of rebar across 69,200-square-feet of bridge deck on its SH302 highway project in Winkler County, Texas, which is located in the far western part of the Lone Star state. ACR worked with Spartan Reinforcing, a Texas-based reinforced concrete specialist, as well as Kiewit, one of the nation's largest general contractors, for the project.

"ACR was founded to rapidly bring robots to job sites to help crews like Spartan and Kiewit," Jeremy Searock, co-founder of ACR, said in a press release. "Our robots will continue to solve today’s construction challenges assisting the workforce to meet rapidly growing demand."

ACR has also deployed its TyBOT for numerous bridge deck projects in Florida and its home state of Pennsylvania, as well as in Alabama, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, Virginia and West Virginia. In addition to its rebar tying TyBOT, ACR is also working to develop its rebar carrying and placing robot called IronBOT and it hopes to make it available later this year.
