Duquesne Light Co. announced that it promoted from within for its vice president of corporate strategy role, which now has Brian Guzek joining DLC's executive leadership team to oversee the utility company's innovation- and affordability-related efforts. Guzek officially assumed the new post on March 15.
Guzek's duties will have him tasked with managing the company's grid modernization strategies and electric vehicle expansion efforts as well as incorporating new technologies aimed at better serving DLC customers. Guzek will also lead a team that collaborates with DLC's general counsel office to best leverage funds awarded to the company as part of the national $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law by President Joe Biden on Nov. 15, 2021.
"When we think about boldly harnessing the future, Brian’s team is playing a pivotal role in positioning DLC as a forward-thinking utility and helping us establish a clean energy future for all," Kevin Walker, president and CEO of DLC, said in a prepared statement. "As we build upon our focus areas for 2022 and beyond, Brian will be an essential player in ensuring that we’re taking the best steps to meet the evolving needs of our customers and communities."
Guzek started at DLC in 2017 as a director and chief procurement officer. He'd go on to be promoted to managing director of customer transformation and then managing director of affordability and innovation management. Prior to his career at DLC, Guzek held posts at U.S. Steel Corp.
He has a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
