Pittsburgh-based generative AI company Abridge is growing again.
Abridge announced a deal with MemorialCare, a hospital and health care systems in Southern California near Los Angeles for its physicians to use Abridge's system for clinical documentation. The documentation system, available for 50 specialities and 14 languages, allows physicians to save time and also be more efficient and take more time with patients.
"With Abridge, a physical barrier has been broken between the clinician and patient without the need for a computer and mental bandwidth has been created for the clinician to be fully present," said MemorialCare President/CEO Barry Arbuckle. "This partnership will make significant improvements in how our clinicians practice medicine, bringing them back to the roots of why they chose medicine in the first place."
MemorialCare is one of a number of top health systems across the country that are using Abridge's systems, including Yale New Haven Health System in Connecticut, Sutter Health in California and UPMC in Pittsburgh. It has also been receiving financing from a $150 million series C round announced in February as well as from chip maker NVIDIA.
"AI can remove friction and clerical overhead, helping clinicians reclaim the mental space to think through care plans for their patients," said Abridge CEO/Founder Dr. Shiv Rao in a statement.
