Ascender has opened its mini-grant campaign for small businesses based in Allegheny County that are majority-owned by a Black entrepreneur.

Applicants must complete a form and submit a two-minute video by March 4 to be considered for the program, which is supported by the Poise Foundation and Dollar Bank.

Ascender said five grants will be awarded, ranging from $300 to $5,000.

To be eligible, businesses must be for-profit and incorporated, employ up to 10 and have a clear plan on how the funds would help to achieve a business goal. Details can be found on Ascender's website.

Ascender, based in East Liberty, is a nonprofit mentorship and coworking space provider.
