Bike Share Pittsburgh celebrated the launch of its new bike-sharing platform called POGOH, which replaces the former Healthy Ride system with new branding and offerings.
Now, those looking to rent a bike in Pittsburgh can do so on the PBSC App. By using the app, users will have the ability to find and unlock the 172 pedal bikes and the 173 electric motor-assisted e-bikes scattered across the 38 POGOH stations found around the city.
"We hope that Pittsburgh loves POGOH as much as they did Healthy Ride,” David White, executive director of Bike Share Pittsburgh, said in a press release. "This relaunch has been a labor of love for us, and we’re very excited to finally share it with our city."
One of the largest changes to the bike-sharing platform, however, is that users will no longer be able to overflow stations where unrented bikes are already occupying the available docking spaces. That's a change from before, where users just had to ensure the bike they used made it to a station. If a station is full, users will have to either wait for a dock to open up or locate another station nearby that has open slots available.
Pricing for renting a bike on the platform starts at $3.50 per 30-minute period or $5 per 30-minute period for an e-bike rental. A Flex Pass offering includes five hours' time worth of unlimited riding before the end of a given calendar year for $20.
An annual membership to the platform, which comes with unlimited 30-minute rides, costs $120 for the year. Those receiving support from government assistance programs can obtain a Mobility Justice Membership for $10 per year, which comes with the same perk of unlimited 30-minute rides.
