Ascender, the East Liberty-based incubation and co-working space for fledgling companies, announced it is ready to equip a new cohort of startup companies into its program with the formal launch of its application period for its 2022-2023 year-long incubator offering.

As part of that offering, Ascender supplies early-stage entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to launch, build and grow their business sustainably, with participating companies receiving more than $12,000 in business assistance via in-depth coaching, mentorship, educational programming and access to Ascender's network of relevant industry experts. Startups that participate in the program are also eligible to receive up to $5,000 in direct funding.

“I would never say that one benefit of the program is more important than another, but Ascender’s network of experts, serial entrepreneurs, and investors is unparalleled,” Ascender Executive Director Nadyli Nunez said in a statement. “Each year, we look at the new cohort and immediately begin making connections based on a company’s industry, challenges and goals. We’re able to support such a range of companies thanks in part to the strength of our community.”

The program isn't reserved for just startups that work in tech like those in software, hardware, retail or social enterprises. Ascender stressed it's also looking to view applications from small businesses that are bringing new products and solutions to market.

Eligible applicants must be 18-years-old or older and lead startups that have raised less than $200,000. Selected applicants will then be asked to participate in Ascender's preincubation bootcamp, a multi-day event held in April that will combine in-person workshops, coaching and pitch presentations.

Following the bootcamp training, startup founders will be admitted into Ascender's latest incubator program, where they'll learn how to craft stakeholder maps, develop value propositions and decide the pricing models for their company, as well as connect with other fellow entrepreneurs who are in the program.

To date, more than 65 startups have completed Ascender's incubator program, which has led to further investments from angel investors, venture capital firms and grants. The 2020-2021 incubation cohort saw a collective $475,000 in investments, posted $55,000 in revenue and earned $31,000 in direct funding from Ascender.

Applications for this year's cohort, which can be submitted here, must be turned in before 11:59 p.m. on March 21.
