The 2024 UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge launches on May 2 with a pool of $300,000 and accelerator assistance.
Funded by the BNY Mellon Foundation of Southwestern Pennsylvania and administered by Innovation Works, this marks the seventh iteration of the challenge. UpPrize will award capital and business support to three finalists to launch or expand startups using technology to address social inequities.
The first place winner will receive $125,000; second place, $100,000; and third place, $75,000.
UpPrize debuted in 2015, created to bridge the gap between the nonprofit and entrepreneurial communities and increase the number of impactful technology-based solutions targeted to critical social challenges.
Four winners were announced Oct. 19 for the 2023 challenge.
