Fayette LaunchBox said entrepreneurs looking to present their small business ideas in its fourth annual “Shark Tank” competition — and the chance to win cash prizes — are to register by March 13.

The event will take place on April 26 at Penn State Fayette’s Eberly campus.

The competition, modeled after the popular ABC television program, was developed by Rachel Kaplan, assistant teaching professor of corporate communication, and Barbara Koffler, director of outreach and continuing education.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs are encouraged to present ideas that benefit the local marketplace. Participation is open to all faculty, staff, students and alumni of Penn State Fayette, as well as unaffiliated residents of Fayette and Greene counties.

Winners receive $2,500, $1,500 or $1,000 based on placement. All other participants receive a $50 gift card for entering.

Fayette LaunchBox is a partnership between Penn State Fayette and the Fay-Penn Economic Development Council. A business accelerator established in 2018, it is designed to help at no cost regional entrepreneurs and university affiliates develop ideas into commercially viable products and services.
