Through her work at Care-Based Leadership and via the development of Care-Metrix, Jessica Spradley is combining innovation and data with diversity, equity and inclusion consulting. Care-Based Leadership provides DEI training for companies. Through her work there, Spradley developed a unique algorithm to measure DEI progress, which is now housed under Care-Metrix. With the data-driven algorithm, companies can set clear DEI goals, reduce turnover and access metrics to determine progress. This year, Spradley was awarded the inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Innovation award by Vibrant Pittsburgh for her work in these areas.
How does your product fill a specific niche or solve a problem?
There are very few companies that have a research-based assessment that informs organizational recommendations in DEI. Our organization has the expertise in research, measurement, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, training and personal coaching. This allows us to create unique and intentional assessments to tell organizations where they are and what is critical to move forward, and (to) provide evidence of growth over time.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in developing your product?
We have had issues finding the technology to support our algorithm and automation of reports. We have worked very hard over the past year to research and develop our index in a way that is accessible to the maximum number of participants.
What is your vision for the future impact of your product?
We envision being the benchmark assessment for corporations to evaluate, assess and improve their capacity for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in a qualitative and quantitative way.
