Farm to Flame Energy Inc.
About the company: Duquesne-based Farm to Flame Energy Inc. is looking to offer cleaner energy sources to remote areas that are currently relying on diesel power for their electricity needs. The startup’s carbon-neutral electricity is smokeless and odorless but offers the same reliability as diesel fuel. Founded in 2018 by CEO Kwaku Jyamfi and Chief Revenue Officer Will McKnight, Farm to Flame’s patented energy solution converts various agricultural wastes into fuel that’s also more affordable than diesel. The startup raised a $700,000 preseed round in November 2022, bringing its total funding to $2.2 million since its founding. It also served in the PGH Lab 7.0 cohort and placed as a semi-finalist in Duquesne University’s 2020 New Venture Challenge. The company, which employs its two co-founders as its only full-time staff, is generating revenue though it did not disclose how much.
Why we’re watching: The startup said it has corporate partners lined up for large-scale, carbon-neutral energy generation to be deployed soon. It’s looking to onboard several employees in the coming year to try and deliver over 1 megawatt of carbon-neutral energy.
What’s their vision for 2023: “We will execute carbon-neutral energy project deliverance to areas with great need,” Jyamfi said. “Farm to Flame is demonstrating a model that scales globally for cost-effective clean energy generation.”
