Allvision IO Inc.
About the company: Allvision IO Inc. is a spatial data and analytics company that specializes in processing lidar, video imagery and trajectory data from mobile mapping systems into various types of information products. In other words, the startup’s software uses AI and machine learning to convert mobile mapping data into high-resolution maps. These maps then can provide insights for businesses, cities, municipalities, enterprises and government agencies as it might relate to applications in transportation infrastructure, asset management and geographic information systems (GIS). Founded in 2017 by CEO Aaron Morris and CTO Ryan Frenz, Allvision IO is based in East Liberty and currently employs seven full-time. The company has raised about $4.6 million in funding to date, with its most recent funding round being a seed round that closed in January 2019 for $3.2 million.
Why we’re watching: The use of AI and machine learning are increasingly popular topics across industries, and Allvision’s processing software is positioning itself to aid businesses with little to no AI or ML knowledge. Additionally, many future technologies — like autonomous vehicles, robotics, augmented reality and smart cities — cannot exist without a digital representation of physical infrastructure, and Allvision is trying to address and solve this problem, landing paying customers in the process and generating over $1 million in annual revenue.
What’s their vision for 2023: “Allvision plans to continuously push the boundaries of what could be done with AI to what can be accomplished with AI today,” Morris said. “We are actually doing what most companies are only in the early stages of planning to do. Our software will prove to be the legacy benchmark in AI for GIS moving forward.”
