Cybersecurity startup ForAllSecure Inc. raised $21 million in Series B funding in March 2022, the region’s fifth-largest round over the past year. The Oakland-based, 30-person startup has raised $36 million to date and has plans to bring that employment figure to 50 workers over the next two years. ForAllSecure’s signature Mayhem products are capable of autonomously conducting embedded security testing across various applications via its patented algorithms, which were first developed at Carnegie Mellon University. Mayhem finished in first place at the 2016 DARPA Cyber Grand Challenge, and the company has since gone on to secure over 100 customers, including the U.S. Department of Defense and Roblox Corp.
What does it feel like to raise the amount of funding your company has raised thus far?
Our mission is to make the world’s software safe from attackers. The new raise allows us to continue with our vision and is the next step in translating what DARPA [the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency] said was groundbreaking to a tool making everyone’s software safer.
How will this funding further grow the company?
We raised funds with a focus on growing our sales and marketing teams. Our product Mayhem is loved by our users, and we want to hit the accelerator to connect with more businesses and projects developing software.
What role, if any, does Pittsburgh play in your company’s efforts to secure funding?
As a CMU spinoff, Pittsburgh has always been our home. While many of our employees are remote, we continue to focus on recruiting Pittsburgh talent.
