London-based MiiHealth has selected Phoenix as the home of its U.S. headquarters, marking a milestone in the AI health care company’s growth.
MiiHealth — formerly known as MiiCare — leased 1,000 square feet in Connect Labs by Wexford on the fifth floor of the 850 PBC building. The space is part of the Phoenix Bioscience Core, a 30-acre life sciences innovation district in downtown Phoenix.
By solidifying its presence in the Valley, MiiHealth is better positioned to attract top talent, forge strategic partnerships, and drive innovation to benefit seniors across the country, according to the company, which empowers senior citizens to live independently via its advanced AI-based health monitoring system. In 2023, the company was named a finalist in the Arizona Commerce Authority's Arizona Innovation Challenge.
MiiHealth’s new headquarters also strengthens its ties with key regional partners and supports its participation in Arizona State University and the Mayo Clinic’s MedTech Accelerator program, which provided the company with resources and mentorship, allowing it to refine its technology and market strategy.
“We are breaking new frontiers in healthcare innovation and bringing the best of recent technological advancements to our industry. We are captivated by our quest to transform the way health and care are delivered today to those grappling with chronic conditions,” Kelvin Summoogum, founder and CEO of MiiHealth, said in a statement. “But this requires a concerted effort from all the key players across the value chain. We therefore call on providers, payers and payviders in the Valley to get in touch and together we will transform the lives of millions.”
Company developed AI health monitoring system
MiiHealth developed conversational AI companion Monica and MiiCube, which collects more than 70 datatypes and converts them into insights for providers to personalize health care plans.
“MiiHealth, formerly MiiCare, offers unique and important innovations in the way people interact with conversational AI and digital tools in both medical and home settings, making health and healthcare more accessible and responsive,” Steven Lester, professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, said in a statement. Because MiiHealth is a Mayo Clinic and ASU MedTech Accelerator portfolio company, there has been a unique opportunity for institutional learning and cross-collaboration. We are supportive of the organization’s strategic expansion into the United States, with its headquarters planned for the Phoenix metro area.”
MiiHealth’s new Phoenix headquarters comes as the company is nearing closure of a $7 million capital round, which will be instrumental in scaling operations, expanding products and accelerating it’s go-to-market strategy. The company did not disclose its investors nor when the round is expected to close.
MiiHealth was among Plug and Play Alberta's fifth cohort of entrepreneurs for its digital health accelerator program, which concluded in May, according to the company's LinkedIn page.
MiiHealth's entry into the Phoenix market is a signal of the Valley's emergence as a "destination for international companies looking for opportunities in the health care sector," Chris Camacho, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, said in a statement.
"This partnership between MiiHealth, Mayo Clinic, ASU and Wexford will open the doors to future collaboration and continued development out of the PBC,” he said.
