Gener8tor, a venture capital firm and startup accelerator headquartered in Wisconsin, is expanding its career training program to Phoenix.

Gener8tor’s Skills Accelerator is a virtual, rapid reskilling program for people looking for in-demand jobs — some of which are remote positions — at companies such as Microsoft, LinkedIn and JPMorgan Chase.

Genera8tor’s six-week program in Phoenix is providing job seekers with project management skills. Participants in the cohort will receive certificates from LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Learn as well as receive job placement assistance upon completion of the program.

Gener8tor’s partnership with Microsoft spurred the firm’s interest in expanding its career training program to Phoenix, said Cole Shearer, vice president of Gener8tor's Skills Accelerator.

“As we've gotten the program up and running in the region, it has been very clear to us there’s demand and interest in project management roles from individuals and employers,” Shearer said. “It has been a great process. We’re really excited to be able to showcase the program for our first cohort in the region.”

Gener8tor expects to have between 30 to 35 participants in its inaugural Phoenix cohort, which launches on May 22. The firm is accepting applications through May 19.

Each participant will be paired with a career coach who will assist with resumes, cover letter and LinkedIn profiles as well as ensuring completion of the program, Shearer said.

“As we run more cohorts in the region, we have the ability to adjust local needs for employers and any talent gaps within the community with other career tracks that range from data analytics to customer service and sales,” Shearer said. “Our graduates can go to one of our other programs if they are interested in taking their project management skills to the next level with our other offerings.”

Gener8tor is also partnering with Dysart Community Center to launch the program in the Valley.

“We are delighted to partner with Gener8tor Skills Accelerator and Microsoft to offer exactly what our community needs to inspire real-life change in their circumstances and future generations through educational programs,” Annie Ansell, executive director of the Dysart Community Center, said in a statement.

Gener8tor’s Skills Accelerator program has placed more than 500 graduates into jobs since its inception in 2020, according to the firm.

"We have a national network of about 420 employers that we have a relationship with, so individuals in Phoenix will be able to take full advantage of our employer network," Shearer said. "We also work with local employers within the region to make sure that we have a strong pipeline of opportunities for our graduates."
