Scottsdale-based Tequila Corrido is expanding its footprint by partnering with the Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) of Arizona — a North American distributor of wine and spirits.

“Now, even more people will be able to enjoy Tequila Corrido’s Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo expressions throughout the state and beyond," said Brian Raab, president and partner of Tequila Corrido, in a statement.

Through online purchases, RNDC will distribute Tequila Corrido to consumers in 38 states and will soon launch in Texas and New Mexico, further expanding its footprint. The spirit is also available for retail purchase in Arizona, Nevada, and Tennessee. Read more about the company here.

According to the company website, the Corrido is a poetic song sung by smugglers who risked their livelihoods smuggling tequila into border regions during the prohibition era. The songs told the tales of the so-called “border bandits” and inspired late-founder Brad Hoover to launch Tequila Corrido in 2008.

Hoover died two years after founding the company, causing the company to become stagnant for about six years, Tequila Corrido COO Tony Boyle previously told the Business Journal. But in 2017, Raab and Boyle decided to relaunch the company in hopes of fulfilling Hoover’s commitment to bringing people together.

Tequila Corrido’s ingredients are all sourced from Mexico where the tequila is created by master distiller Ana María Romero. Each tequila is carefully handcrafted, going through a natural fermentation process that can take several days to weeks before advancing to the distillation process depending on the type of product, according to the company.

The spirit is available in three varieties: Tequila Corrido Blanco, Tequila Corrido Reposado, and Tequila Corrido Añejo. Every bottle pays homage to the stories behind the evolution of the Corrido. Thus, each bottle comes with a guitar pick tied to the top. Raab said he hopes that everyone who drinks the tequila can “wear the guitar pick and write their own story.”

In 2021, Tequila Corrido won one silver and two gold medals at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and was named a “2021 Brand of Promise” by Tequila Aficionado.

“Tequila Corrido was always meant to be shared — it’s in the name,” Boyle said in a statement. “Being part of the RNDC network and having their team supporting us is an incredible step in our journey.”
