PHL Inno, the Philadelphia Business Journal's innovation vertical focused on technology and startups, hosted its inaugural event on May 18 at One Cathedral Square. Dubbed "Steering Startups," the event featured one-on-one discussions with three industry insiders.
The event, held on the amenity floor and rooftop terrace of the EQT Exeter multifamily property in Center City, kicked off with food and networking. It was followed by individual interviews with Drexel University President John Fry, Comcast Ventures and Startup Engagement Managing Partner and Senior Vice President Allison Goldberg, and Lula Convenience CEO Adit Gupta, all conducted by Business Journal and PHL Inno reporter Ryan Mulligan.
Each discussion touched on the ways Greater Philadelphia is helping to build startups and where the industry is headed next. Speakers offered insight into fundraising in a difficult economy and how pivoting business models can be a benefit. They also addressed ongoing initiatives to attract and retain tech talent in Greater Philadelphia.
