“Hawaiian Telcom continues to coordinate with county, state and federal officials to provide phone and community WiFi services to assist the community on Maui.”

According to an update on its website on Sunday evening, phone and WiFi service has been established at the shelters at the War Memorial Gym and at the Kihei Gym.

Hawaiian Telcom said customers in areas including Lahaina, Napili and Kaanapali can request to have calls to their landline numbers forwarded to another phone number, free of charge.

The company is urging Maui customers to “keep non-essential calls to a minimum to ensure that lines can remain open for emergency purposes.”

The company has created a web page related to service disruption and restoration updates on Maui here, as well as a new toll-free number for Maui residents requesting service at (808) 643-MAUI (6284). Maui residents can also click here to submit an online request.
