Hawaii Island Mayor Mitch Roth has named Robert Ewbank as the director of the county’s Department of Information Technology.

Officials announced the appointment on Monday, noting that Ewbank brings more than 20 years of experience with IT systems and in leadership positions to the role. In his new role, which he will assume on May 15, he will “focus on providing users and clients with a stable computing environment that maintains confidentiality, integrity, and availability,” according to county officials.

“We are thrilled to have Robert Ewbank join our team as the director of the Department of Information Technology,” said Mayor Mitch Roth said in a statement. “Robert’s experience and expertise make him the ideal candidate for the position, and we look forward to working with him to continue to improve technology services for the county.”
