The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali recently announced it has partnered with Hawaii-based tour company and app Shaka Guide to create a new "adventure package" for its guests.
The package includes a room at the resort, a $60 daily resort credit, and six self-guided tours of Maui through the app.
"Our aim with the adventure package was to create something of value for travelers who see the hotel primarily as a home base from which to go out and explore the island," Lana Uytterhagen, director of sales and marketing for Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali, told PBN in an email.
Shaka Guide's app uses GPS to trigger audio narration that plays automatically as users drive, offering directions, stories and travel tips.
The resort credit that comes with the package can be used at the Westin Maui's dining and amenities at Hale Moolelo, Hale A, Mahele Market and Eatery, Heavenly Spa by Westin, and more.
"Shaka Guide focuses on responsible travel that respects Hawaii’s host culture and they support local nonprofits that give back to the destination, so we found them to be the perfect partner," Uytterhagen said. "These emphases also line up with Westin’s brand values relating to responsible tourism. In addition, their app and self-guided audio tours are incredibly convenient and intuitive to use. Ultimately, by enabling tourists to explore Maui in a responsible way with Shaka Guide, we’re hoping that they will support local businesses around the island along the way."
