Hawaii-based nonprofit Elemental Excelerator is offering up to $2.5M in funding for startups that can help organizations achieve their energy goals.
The company has set up three innovation challenges which include helping Amazon achieve “Shipment Zero” by 2030, enabling NextEra Energy to become the first company in the world to completely eliminate carbon from its operations, or transitioning New Zealand to a clean and equitable energy future with a company called Ara Ake, according to Elemental Excelerator.
Applications are due on October 4th to one or more of three challenges. Up to $2.5 million is available for funded projects across all three 2022 challenges, as well as consideration for future investment, according to Elemental Excelerator.
The challenges are part of the company’s Elemental Navigator program which enables organizations to find climate tech startups to accelerate innovation, according to Elemental Excelerator.
As previously reported by PBN, Elemental Excelerator partnered with NextEra Energy in 2021 to offer startups a chance to earn $250,000 in funding if they could provide software and hardware solutions for NextEra.
“This opportunity for startups in Hawaii and beyond to deploy projects with climate-passionate companies like Amazon, NextEra Energy, and Ara Ake in New Zealand is really exciting,” Tiffany Huynh, director of external affairs at Elemental Excelerator, told PBN in an email. “The Innovation Challenge is a great example of how our Elemental Navigator program helps connect corporations with startups to bring climate solutions to market and meet our decarbonization goals.”
