The Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association is hosting a virtual conference to discuss the connection between community, culture, tourism and sustainability.

Held in two different installments over two days, on June 8 and 9, this year’s Ka Huina will explore how these areas intersect in a series of four panel discussions featuring industry leaders.

“These are four distinct pillars leaning upon one another for support, ultimately bringing foundation and structure toward our goals for a regenerative tourism future,” the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association said in a statement. “How they intersect, how they depend on each other, how they allow us to reimagine our future – these are the opportunities Ka Huina seeks to uncover and celebrate.”

The two June 8 panels will cover Hawaiian values in managing tourism and educating visitors, and opportunities in regenerative tourism. The two June 9 panels will focus on innovations within the industry, and how technology has accelerated efforts to grow the community of Hawaiian language speakers.

“It is our sincere hope that participants of Ka Huina will depart with a reinvigorated sense of kuleana and commitment to the Hawaii we share, the Hawaii we will leave for our children, and for the generations to come,” the association stated.

The conference runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. It’s free and open to the public, but advanced registration is required. For more information and to register, click here.
