Project management software firm Prosperi, which helps keep electricity flowing and water clean across Brazil, is bringing similar services to the U.S. via Central Florida.

Brazilian company Prosperi’s expansion efforts in the U.S. will be anchored by its Orlando operations, where the company plans to grow its workforce significantly, CEO Leonardo Nogueria told Orlando Inno.

The company, recognized six times by Microsoft Corp. for its innovative work using the tech giant’s platforms, will oversee the expanded rollout of its newest product from Orlando, as well.

Launched in 1993, Prosperi’s software helps businesses improve workflow, collaboration and project management. The company, which specializes in providing solutions for offices that use Microsoft technology, serves clients in 110 countries in industries ranging from energy to pharmaceuticals. Microsoft in July named Prosperi a global winner for its Latam Project and Portfolio Management Microsoft Partner of the Year Award.

While the pandemic slowed Prosperi’s growth slightly in 2020, the company continues to see demand from customers. That’s especially true as remote work, and the use of tools like Microsoft Teams, creates a need for Prosperi’s solutions at more companies, Nogueria said.

Nogueria declined to give specific revenue numbers, but said Prosperi’s growth in the past five years averages a 25% annual increase.

Meanwhile, Prosperi USA LLC, the firm’s U.S.-based subsidiary, will make Orlando the global base of operations for management of its newest product, Teams Ideas. Launched in 2019, Teams Ideas is an ideation management platform that already has attracted 7,000 users in 120 countries. In addition, the Orlando office will handle “sales and marketing for the entire world,” Nogueria said.

The firm will hire more workers in Central Florida, though Nogueria said he couldn’t disclose how many at this time. Prosperi employs 70 people across its five global offices, with 10 in the U.S.

Further growth by Prosperi in Central Florida would be important because it brings more high-wage jobs to the area. For example, software developers in metro Orlando earn an average annual wage of $95,870, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s nearly double Orlando’s average annual wage of $48,530.

Prosperi first set up a small operation in Orlando in 2018, investing $650,000 in establishing the local office. The company was drawn to the region due to the concentration of universities producing skilled workers and a good airport with easy access to Latin America, said Nogueria, who himself moved to Central Florida three years ago.

It’s increasingly common for companies from outside the state and outside the country to recruit in Central Florida’s technology talent pool, said Charlie Lewis, CEO of Orlando-based recruiting firm BlueWave Resource Partners LLC. “It’s become much more of a national and global talent pool.”
