AmFund and Kalley Dunn scored a $2 million boost in the past year.

Dunn, director of strategic initiatives for Maitland-based AmFund, last September was named an inaugural Inno Under 25 honoree. Inno Under 25 is reserved for Central Florida entrepreneurs, technologists and business leaders age 25 years old or younger who are innovating their industries.

Dunn, 25, was selected because of the role she played in AmFund's adoption of new technology that helped it raise money during the Covid-19 pandemic. That has a profound effect in Central Florida and beyond, as AmFund helps other nonprofits across the U.S. raise money for their causes.

Orlando Inno this fall will announce the 2022 cohort of Inno Under 25 honorees.

Here, Dunn shares with Orlando Inno what her organization has been up to since last year's Inno Under 25 announcement.

What was your organization’s top accomplishment in the past year? The top accomplishment of the American Fundraising Foundation in the past year was contributing an additional $2 million in unrestricted funds to worthy nonprofit organizations across the U.S.

How did your organization make it happen? Our organization made this happen through phenomenal teamwork. Our development team worked tirelessly to speak with the 500-plus individual nonprofit organizations about their fundraising challenges and construct plans to successfully contribute additional dollars. Our travel team worked with the donors of each nonprofit organization to execute fabulous trips across the globe in support of their favorite charity organization. This was a win-win for the donor and the nonprofit, and it was a great achievement by our dedicated staff.

What’s the biggest challenge your organization has faced in 2022? The biggest challenge the American Fundraising Foundation faced in the past year was the disruption of the travel industry due to the re-bookings from Covid-19. We were able to thrive throughout this presented challenge due to our team members dedication to their clients, as well as through hiring additional staff to join our AmFund family.

What is your organization’s top goal for the next 12 months? Our goal for the next 12 months is to support an even larger number of worthy organizations and raise an additional $2 million-plus in support of their causes. This will be done through the expansion of our existing grant program, and continuation of the success of our Fundraising Travel Program.
