ThreatLocker Inc. was chosen as one of Orlando Business Journal's 2022 Fire Awards honorees, who were featured in OBJ's April 29-May 5, 2022, weekly edition.

The Maitland-based cybersecurity company offers server and endpoint security for enterprise clients. In 2021, the firm expanded to Europe, closed a $20 million fundraising round and surpassed the 100-employee mark. This year, it aims to grow further. In addition to being a Fire Awards honoree, ThreatLocker was named one of five 2022 Fire Awards Blazers for ranking No. 1 among honoree companies that are 5-6 years old.

Here's more from ThreatLocker CEO Danny Jenkins:

What was your company’s biggest accomplishment of 2021? Opened European Union headquarters in Ireland, increased staff to more than 100 employees, launched a new product: Elevation Control. ThreatLocker raised $20 million in Series B funding in April 2021. Led by Elephant, the company leveraged this round to expand its global footprint and continue to focus on innovating ahead of the cybersecurity market.

How does your company stay innovative and on the cutting-edge? The team at ThreatLocker has been developing cybersecurity tools for decades, including programs to enhance email and content security, and this is our most innovative and ambitious cybersecurity solution yet. We developed this unique cybersecurity system because we believe that organizations should have complete control of their networks and should not have to live in fear of the next malware attack.

What strategies have you implemented to recruit and/or retain talent in a competitive labor market? The largest success in attracting and retaining talent has been through our employees and partnering with various community organizations. We’ve built a recruitment-centric culture within ThreatLocker where employees have embodied a recruiter's mentality to continue our growth. In fact, about 24% of our “cyber heroes” are referral based. Additionally, we’ve identified and partnered with a variety of universities, technical programs and recruitment/employment agencies and organizations to find talent.

Regarding retention, it’s important that you not only identify the right candidate during the recruitment process (executed through having qualified, consistent technical and cultural vetting at all levels), but also ensure our employees feel valued and empowered within their roles, have a professional development plan and foster a positive work environment.

What is the biggest challenge facing your industry? Cyberattacks are a big challenge in the industry. Both MSPs andSMEs are a major target of cyber threats. As cybersecurity and IT professionals, we must come together to continue innovating ahead of the latest threats by improving our cyber hygiene and implementing best practices across the board.

What is your company’s top goal for 2022? To double our staff and continue growing at lightning speed.

In the past year, what progress have you seen in the growth of Central Florida’s entrepreneurial and tech ecosystems? We are proud to be headquartered in Maitland, located in one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States… Orlando has a young, educated and diverse workforce. As the Orlando market continues to generate thousands of tech jobs, we hope that we’ll continue to attract new talent in the Central Florida region.

What is the local technology and innovation sector’s biggest obstacle to more growth? Recruitment in the current job market. There is a high-demand for new talent in tech and thousands of open roles that need to be filled. To differentiate ThreatLocker from competing organizations, our talent acquisition and marketing team work tirelessly behind the scenes to build a recruitment-centric culture that drives brand awareness and more growth.

Are you hiring now? If so, how many positions and in what time frame? We have a variety of positions available within our sales, development, marketing, accounting and operations departments. Visit our careers page to review and apply.
