Anuvia Plant Nutrients Corp. was chosen as one of Orlando Business Journal's 2022 Fire Awards honorees, which were featured in OBJ's April 29-May 5, 2022, weekly edition.

The Winter Garden-based company developed a proprietary nutrient technology that replaces or augments traditional fertilizers, allowing large-scale agricultural crops to be grown sustainably.

Here's more from Anuvia CEO Amy Yoder:

Describe your company in three sentences or less: Anuvia Plant Nutrients manufactures high-efficiency, sustainable bio-based fertilizers for the agriculture, turf and lawncare industries. The company's unique technology not only optimizes nutrient availability and efficiency for plants, but also improves soil health, preserves natural resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

What was your company’s biggest accomplishment of 2021? There were two that are significant milestones for Anuvia. In 2021, the company was able to significantly scale up production at its production plant near Plant City. This effort significantly allows us to grow the business and reach our goals. The other key accomplishment was signing a development agreement with the world’s leader in enzyme and microbial technologies, Novozymes, to work together to innovate on future generations of bio-fertilizers that could improve the nutritional efficiency of crops.

How did you get it done? While it took several years to develop the partnership, it really was simply deciding who Anuvia should partner with and then working incredibly hard to make it happen over a three-year period.

How does your company stay innovative? Our team is constantly challenging ourselves to do better and never accept the status quo.

What strategies have you implemented to recruit and/or retain talent in a competitive labor market? This is a significant focus, and we work with our employees to help them remain with us, offering a competitive salary, flex time and more. But there are two other key reasons people choose to work at Anuvia. For one, people want to work for a company that is focused on sustainability, which is at the core of what we do. Secondly, there is a significant opportunity for growth here, and people looking move up quickly in a company can do that at Anuvia.

What is the biggest challenge facing your industry? Agriculture is really a logistics industry and as such, the extremely high fuel prices are a significant challenge to our industry today.

What is your company’s top goal for 2022? Increase revenue to $100 million annually

In the past year, what progress have you seen in the growth of Central Florida’s entrepreneurial and tech ecosystems? Anuvia is proof this area is a great place to start a business, especially since Central Florida is attracting a lot of talent to this area.

What is the local technology and innovation sector’s biggest obstacle to more growth? Letting people know what is available here. Not everyone knows that a local technology and innovation sector actually exists here.

Are you hiring now? Anuvia is hiring everything from analysists and engineers to logistics and human resources. Anuvia currently has 15 positions open to be hired immediately.
