The Nashville Entrepreneur Center added a new position to its C-suite on Tuesday

Brittany Cole was named as the organization's chief equity and inclusion officer, a news release announced.

In addition to taking on the role, Brittany Cole’s Career Thrivers will partner with the EC. Career Thrivers is a company dedicated to helping businesses attract and retain diverse talent.

The EC ranks No.10 on the Business Journal's List of largest coworking spaces in the city, with 14,000 square feet.

A former graduate of the EC’s PreFlight program, Cole returns as a leader rather than a student.

“Brittany is a trailblazer who knows what it takes to build equity and inclusion within organizations,” said EC CEO Jane Allen in the release. “She’s done it for some of the biggest companies in the world and in fact started her own company, Career Thrivers, where she and her team work to develop inclusive leaders for equity. It is important for our entrepreneurial community that we continue to advance our inclusion priorities and having Brittany on our leadership team is truly a gift.”

Cole’s responsibilities focus on refining the EC’s Twendé program, an initiative that works to accelerate and assist in the success of Black and Latino-owned businesses.

She will also use her experience to provide resources and tools to entrepreneurs to help them develop inclusive leadership skills within their organizations, said the release.

"It’s an honor to have the EC partner with Career Thrivers to elevate the equity and inclusion priorities for both entrepreneurs and the organization at the same time,” said Cole in the release. “The opportunity to build my business while also partnering with entrepreneurs to prioritize inclusion and equity as a core business imperative from the start is exciting.”

Although this position is a new addition to the EC’s executive leadership, Brynn Plummer formerly held the organization’s role of vice president of equity, inclusion and community and acted as the portfolio manager of Twendé.
