Artificial intelligence health care startup Lirio has tapped a former Digital Reasoning executive to be its next CEO.

Marten den Haring replaced Mike West as the Knoxville and Nashville-based company’s top executive, effective Monday, according to a news release. West will continue to lead Lirio’s board of directors as executive chairman.

Lirio’s platform uses behavioral science and AI to better people’s health by helping create changes in their behavior. The company employs 81 people, including 32 in Nashville, where Den Haring will be based alongside Chief Behavioral Officer Chandra Osborn, Chief Growth Officer Cambrey Little and Chief People Officer Emily Moses.

“This is the right time for Lirio, for Marten, and for me to pass the baton,” West said in the release. “Marten’s vision and passion for Lirio is infectious and he has helped our team thrive during challenging times of the pandemic. Marten has been a trusted partner since joining the company two years ago, and I look forward to continuing our close collaboration in my role as executive chairman.”

Den Haring was most recently Lirio’s chief operating officer, following a stint at Montreal-based Element AI and nearly six years as chief product officer at Franklin-based AI firm Digital Reasoning, one of Middle Tennessee’s most successful tech startups.

“Under Mike’s leadership, Lirio has assembled an incredibly talented team that is united around our mission to impact the health of millions of people around the world,” Den Haring said in the release. “It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Lirio’s CEO and enable us to deliver personalized digital care experiences that will motivate people of all ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic status to lead healthier lives.”
