Milky Way Tech Hub said Monday that it is participating in a series of workshops focused on artificial intelligence in collaboration with its corporate members and community organizations, including American Family Insurance, Northwestern Mutual, Summerfest Tech and Social X MKE.

The workshops aim to educate and empower the community by providing insights into the practical applications of AI and fostering an environment of learning and innovation, the organization said.

The Milky Way Tech Hub is a Milwaukee-based social impact initiative dedicated to creating equitable opportunities in the tech industry. Milky Way Tech Hub is the social impact arm of Jet Constellations, the software development company founded by Nadiyah Johnson.

The four-workshop series kicks off June 6 in conjunction with the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute speaker series event, “A Framework for Domain-Specific Applications of LLMs.” Milky Way Tech Hub's Johnson will be joined by Kevin Chovanec, a data scientist at Marquette University in Milwaukee, on how to create a framework for implementing large language models (LLMs) in specific disciplines.

Johnson will also be a featured speaker at Social X MKE's Coding with Clarity event at the Direct Supply Innovation and Technology Center on June 11, along with Christopher Perceptions, a Milwaukee native and cryptocurrency entrepreneur. Their discussion will focus on AI's transformational means of changing industries and creating new ways to build wealth.

Milky Way Tech Hub will also participate on Madison-based American Family Insurance's STEAM & Dream event at the Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall at Milwaukee School of Engineering on June 21. The inclusive event, with partner Young Enterprising Society, is designed to provide hands-on training of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) disciplines, while providing the financial security skills needed for the current and next generation. Milky Way Tech Hub will facilitate an AI workshop for youth to understand what AI is and help them better understand how to use it in their everyday lives to enhance productivity.

Finally, Milky Way Tech Hub invites people to Summerfest Tech's "From Concept to Reality: Building Your Tech Ideas with Wisconsin Tech Month Insights" event at Potawatomi Casino Hotel on June 26. The workshop is designed to inspire and equip participants with the tools to transform their innovative tech ideas into successful realities using AI-powered strategies.
