A well-known local technology executive has a new role at a new company.

Tim Dickson, formerly the chief information officer at Generac Power Systems, has joined Regal Rexnord Corp. as its chief digital and information officer, the companies confirmed.

Generac (NYSE: GNRC) is conducting an executive search for a new CIO, Generac executive vice president of human resources Rhonda Matschke told the Milwaukee Business Journal in a statement.

“Dickson has left (Generac) to pursue another opportunity," Matschke said. "We thank Tim for his contributions to the business and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Dickson joined Generac in August 2020 and was its first CIO. In his three years there, he grew the company's technology team by upskilling employees in areas including data, user experience and digital architecture. Generac makes generators and other power products for residential, commercial and industrial use.

In comments on a LinkedIn post about his Generac departure that Dickson authored earlier this month, Generac employees and others reflected on his impact.

"Without your upskilling opportunities, I may not have been able to get back to my design roots while staying at Generac," one employee wrote. "Thanks to you, I have my dream job doing UI/UX design."

In his new role, Dickson will lead the global digital and information technology functions at Regal Rexnord (NYSE: RRX), the company's vice president of investor relations and external communications Robert Barry said via email.

"Additionally, Tim is responsible for building an industry-leading digital capability to further enhance decision-making across the organization and continually exceed our e-commerce customers’ expectations," Barry said.

Regal Rexnord recently changed its corporate address to downtown Milwaukee from Beloit in recognition of its increased presence in southeast Wisconsin. Its downtown Milwaukee office has around 650 employees, and Regal Rexnord has tens of thousands of employees worldwide.

Formerly known as Regal Beloit Corp., Regal Rexnord engineers and manufactures products including factory automation sub-systems, industrial powertrain solutions and automation and mechanical power transmission components.

Dickson is a leader in Milwaukee's broader tech ecosystem, involved in events including Summerfest Tech. He was among the Milwaukee Business Journal's People to Know in Technology in 2022.
