Consumer rewards startup Fetch has hired veteran technology executive Meredith Guerriero as its new chief operating officer.

Guerriero has spent nearly two decades in leadership roles at some of Silicon Valley's most well-known companies, including Pinterest, Facebook and Google. Madison-based Fetch hired her to help lead its business in the next phase of its growth, according to a Thursday announcement.

The announcement of Guerriero's hire came days after Fetch laid off 100 employees in an effort to shore up its balance sheet.

Guerriero was previously vice president of sales and partnerships at Pinterest Inc. (NYSE: PINS). Before that, she was director of health, grocery, drugstore and politics at Facebook, which is now Meta Platforms Inc. (Nasdaq: META). She also spent a decade at Google earlier in her career.

At Pinterest, Guerriero helped prepare for the company's initial public offering in 2019, Fetch's announcement noted.

Fetch is a private company founded in 2013 by Wes Schroll, who serves as its CEO, and Tyler Kennedy, who serves as its senior vice president of operations. It doesn't currently have plans for an exit, Fetch director of corporate communications Allison Geyer told Wisconsin Inno in an email Wednesday.

Guerriero isn't the first seasoned tech leader Fetch has hired. In January 2022, it brought on former Facebook executive David Sommer as its first chief customer officer.

Formerly known as Fetch Rewards, Fetch makes a shopping app designed to help consumers earn rewards on their purchases. It earns money from brands that pay to have deals on their products featured in the app.

Fetch has more than 17 million active monthly users, according to the company.
