With the goal of empowering Black, Hispanic, Asian and Indigenous women in the workplace, a Milwaukee-area leader is launching an online social community and training platform for women of color.

Known as Leaders LeadUp, the platform is designed to help women of color navigate the workplace and connect with successful business executives and entrepreneurs around the world.

Leaders LeadUp will include private forums to allow women to share stories and challenges. It also will offer online training covering topics such as entrepreneurship, branding and marketing, diversity and management.

The platform will also provide training and insights to help employers increase their empathy for women of color. In addition, it will partner with organizations to create customized programs to help employers retain and engage diverse talent, and strengthen corporate culture.

Leaders LeadUp will launch on March 24. Its founder is Janette Braverman, the founder and CEO of the leadership development and technology solutions consulting firm Leaders Leaving Legacies LLC.

Braverman previously served in executive leadership roles at Cardinal Stritch University and was an Ozaukee County board supervisor. Earlier in her career, she worked in information technology and manufacturing at companies including Lockheed Martin Corp., Harley-Davidson Inc. and Rockwell Automation Inc.

Leaders LeadUp is hosting a launch event in Milwaukee on March 24, sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Urban League. Funds raised at the event will support ongoing platform development, future memberships and scholarships to support women and other underrepresented groups.

Braverman was a Milwaukee Business Journal Women of Influence award winner in 2018.
