Prosper’s HealthTech Accelerator is recruiting another group of founders from around the country.

Powered by gener8tor, a nationally ranked Wisconsin-based startup accelerator and venture fund, and managed by Redhawk Advisory in Birmingham, Alabama, Prosper’s HealthTech Accelerator connects health technology startups to coaching, capital and connections to build and grow their businesses.

Applications for the 12-week cohort in Birmingham are open until Feb. 5. The cohort begins on March 24 and wraps up June 22. Participating companies will receive a financial investment, office space and connections to Birmingham’s health, tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“The support of community is a quintessential part of building a great start up," said DeCarri Wells, PHTA program manager. "We strive to build a vested, supportive network around the founders and give them the tools needed to grow their companies. With Birmingham having a connected tech ecosystem, it's crucial that we make as many intentional connections as possible. We do. That’s just part of the magic of the Magic City."

Prosper has hosted two previous cohorts of founders.

“We are proud to have hosted founders from Indiana, California, Illinois, Texas, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Tennessee and here at home in Alabama," Wells said. "We are proud of the success of the founders we've had in our first year. One company has closed their first round of funding. Two have relocated their companies to Alabama with others on the way."

And Prosper HealthTech Accelerator participants sing the praises of the Birmingham ecosystem and the impact it has had on their companies.

"The community in Birmingham is second to none, starting with the Prosper and Gener8tor teams, where they made valuable introductions to help us gain the necessary traction to accelerate our business," said Isis Ashford, co-founder and COO of Xplosion, a company now operating in Birmingham. "The health-tech ecosystem is phenomenal and full of stakeholders who genuinely care about their patients and aggressively seek progress. We felt the community was invested in our success and eager to go above and beyond to help us achieve our goals."
