A growing e-commerce logistics startup started by the son of a longstanding Milwaukee logistics firm owner recently moved into its own warehouse on the city's near west side.

Atomix Logistics LLC now occupies a 15,000-square-foot facility at 2203 W. Michigan St., according to a Dec. 14 announcement. It's leasing the space from Ogden & Co., Atomix founder and CEO Austin Kreinz said.

Founded in 2019, Atomix provides order fulfillment services for emerging startups and entrepreneurs. It currently has 10 employees and plans to hire up to 30 more in 2022 in engineering, sales and operations.

"Our family’s long history in the logistics industry combined with our growing and experienced team has allowed us to scale," Kreinz said in a statement.

Austin's father, Mike Kreinz, is the president and owner of Milwaukee's CS Logistics Inc., which was founded in 1998 and has 152 employees. It's located at 11001 W. Mitchell Street in West Allis.

Atomix operates using a micro-pod model that's designed to give customers the control of in-house fulfillment with the efficiency of outsourcing. Customers get a 500-square-foot "pod" within the Atomix facility that's operated by a dedicated Atomix pod manager. Inventory is managed through Atomix's software platform.

Customers of Atomix include the new Milwaukee-based apparel brand Hmegrwn, among more than 50 others based nationwide.

Atomix previously operated out of 400 square feet of the CS Logistics facility, the company said.

It plans to open a second facility in Los Angeles in the second quarter of 2022, according to its website. It also plans to open an East Coast facility within the next two years as it prioritizes vertically integrating its fulfillment process, the announcement stated.

“The addition of Atomix to the near west side is an exciting development for our business community and economy," Near West Side Partners executive director Keith Stanley said in a statement.
