Milwaukee's Frontdesk among fastest-growing U.S. firms: See local businesses on Inc. 5000

Vacation rental startup Frontdesk Inc. is among America's fastest-growing private companies, according to the annual Inc. 5000 list published Tuesday.

Milwaukee-based Frontdesk ranked 136 on the list, representing 3,012% revenue growth between 2017 and 2020. The company was founded in 2017 and has raised $18 million to date, including a recent $7 million raise.

To qualify for the list, companies must have generated at least $100,000 in revenue in 2017 and at least $2 million in 2020. Frontdesk has a $27 million annual run rate, according to the company's CEO and co-founder Kyle Weatherly

Frontdesk was the highest-ranking firm among metropolitan Milwaukee companies that made the list. It was followed by Cedarburg's online machine shop PartsBadger LLC, which ranked 525 with 936% three-year revenue growth, and Muskego's stainless steel fittings and valves maker Sanitary Fittings LLC, which ranked 714 with 687% revenue growth.

A total of 18 Milwaukee-area firms made this year's list, up from 15 last year and 17 in 2019. The companies on this year's list had a median growth rate of 127% between 2017 and 2020, and generated $1.1 billion in total revenue and new 983 jobs.

Among all Wisconsin-based companies on this year's list, Frontdesk ranked third behind Verona biotechnology company Gentueri Inc., which was 112 on the list with 3,688% three-year revenue growth, and Madison's app monetization platform TheoremReach LLC, which was 116 with 3,535% revenue growth. Madison's unicorn startup Fetch Rewards ranked 248 on the list, representing 1,832% growth between 2017 and 2020. 

A total of 53 Wisconsin companies made this year's list. That group had a 132% median growth rate between 2017 and 2020, and generated $1.7 billion in total revenue and 2,198 new jobs.
