Fiserv Inc. has appointed Guy Chiarello as its chief operating officer effective Thursday, according to a press release, filling a top-level position that has been vacant since last summer.

In stepping into the new role, Chiarello is backfilling a position left open by Frank Bisignano, who became the company's president and CEO in July 2020. Bisignano, who was chairman and CEO of First Data Corp. when Brookfield-based Fiserv (Nasdaq: FISV) acquired it in 2019, succeeded former Fiserv CEO Jeff Yabuki.

Chiarello was previously Fiserv's chief administrative officer. Before that, he was president of First Data Corp., which Fiserv acquired in 2019 through a $22 billion all-stock deal. Earlier in his career, he was the chief information officer at Morgan Stanley and at JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Effective July 26, Adam Rosman will replace Chiarello as Fiserv's chief administrative officer and also serve as the company's chief legal officer. Rosman comes from OneMain Financial but prior to that, he was general counsel for First Data and played a key role in the 2019 merger with Fiserv, according to the release.

Fiserv also added a newly created position to its leadership team with the hire of Suzan Kereere as chief growth officer, effective July 6. Kereere will lead enterprise strategy, acquisition and business development initiatives that accelerate Fiserv's growth, according to the release.

Kereere has previously held global business leadership roles at Visa and American Express.

Chiarello's total 2020 compensation as Fiserv's chief administrative officer was around $6 million, including a $1 million salary and around $2.5 million in stock awards and options awards, respectively, according to Fiserv's 2021 proxy statement.
