U.S. tech companies added a total of 16,600 jobs in April and 60,900 jobs in 2021. These jobs include both technical and non-technical roles at U.S. tech companies, including positions in sales, marketing and finance.
In terms of IT jobs in all sectors of the U.S. economy, April was the first month of employment decline after four consecutive months of gains. Employers reduced their hiring of IT workers by an estimated 234,000 positions, according to a CompTIA press release.
Neither Wisconsin nor Milwaukee made the monthly list of top states and metropolitan areas for tech job postings. However, Milwaukee was first on a list of mid-market metro areas with the highest growth in tech job postings in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the fourth quarter of 2020, according to a recent Business Journals analysis of CompTIA data.
