Fiserv Inc. ranked sixth among U.S. employers for technology job postings in April, according to a report released May 7 from CompTIA, a nonprofit information technology (IT) industry association.

Brookfield-based Fiserv (Nasdaq: FISV) had 1,989 tech job postings in April, according to the report.

Ahead of Fiserv, the top five employers for tech job postings last month were Deloitte with 8,049 postings, Facebook with 3,192, Amazon with 2,754, Accenture with 2,277 and Humana with 2,178, according to CompTIA's analysis of job posting data from Burning Glass Technologies Labor Insights.

April was the fifth consecutive month of U.S. tech sector employment growth, according to the report, which uses monthly employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. U.S. tech companies added a total of 16,600 jobs in April and 60,900 jobs in 2021. These jobs include both technical and non-technical roles at U.S. tech companies, including positions in sales, marketing and finance.

In terms of IT jobs in all sectors of the U.S. economy, April was the first month of employment decline after four consecutive months of gains. Employers reduced their hiring of IT workers by an estimated 234,000 positions, according to a CompTIA press release.

Neither Wisconsin nor Milwaukee made the monthly list of top states and metropolitan areas for tech job postings. However, Milwaukee was first on a list of mid-market metro areas with the highest growth in tech job postings in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the fourth quarter of 2020, according to a recent Business Journals analysis of CompTIA data.
