Epic Systems Corp.'s electronic health records software has so far helped clinicians, vaccinators, and health care providers administer up to 500,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines per day since January, the Verona-based company is reporting.

The company's software is used by most of the major health care systems in the U.S. Additionally, data on more than 250 million patients are on Epic medical records. The software enables patient outreach to those people deemed a priority to receive medical attention, scheduling and automatic reporting to public health authorities.

The company, one of the largest-privately held companies in Wisconsin with roughly $3 billion in annual revenue, recently celebrated a milestone with 100 mass vaccination sites now using its software to help administer vaccines. The company was supporting 44 mass vaccination sites sites on Jan. 21 and by Feb. 2, had reached 100 sites.

Epic is expecting to add an additional 100 sites within the next 30 days.

"We are proud to help the health systems supporting the national goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans in the (Biden) Administration's first 100 days," said Judy Faulkner, founder and CEO of Epic, in a statement. "Doing what often takes months, health systems have moved in a matter of days and weeks to set up locations with the technology needed to conduct mass vaccinations."

Epic employs about 10,000 people, most of which work at the company's 1,000-acre campus.
