New York IT services company plans to double workforce in Milwaukee, Madison

Genesis10, a New York City-based information technology services and consulting company, is planning to double its workforce in Wisconsin in 2021, specifically for its Milwaukee and Madison locations.

Founder and CEO Harley Lippman said the company is hoping to double its workforce in its Milwaukee/Madison market from roughly 150 employees to 300 this year.

Of that 300, over one-third will be dedicated to junior software developers that Genesis10 has trained through its 27-month, paid-training program called Dev10 Talent Creation.

In February 2020, Genesis10 launched its Dev10 software developer training program in Milwaukee. The launch included collaborating with the Milwaukee Tech Hub Coalition to produce more developers in the metro area.

The company is now adding a Dev10 training program track in the Milwaukee region focused on data literacy, data analysis, data visualization, advanced Python and data engineering.

“With the support of organizations in the greater Milwaukee region that have already seen success leveraging the Dev10 program for Java resources, the first data professional graduates will enter the market in Q2 of 2021,” said Jennifer Turnquist, Dev10 client director.

Genesis10 also operates as a tech staffing firm. In addition to hiring its trainees to be full-time Genesis10 consultants, some trainees are hired by other companies in industries like banking, financial services, manufacturing, health care and retail.

In a recent podcast with the Milwaukee Business Journal, Lippman and Turnquist talked about the company's presence in Milwaukee and why tech professionals are in high demand.

"Milwaukee is an important place on the map of the United States to grow our Dev10 operation," Lippman said. "We've had a presence, we've had an office, and we've been doing business in Milwaukee since we started as a company 20 years ago. We always felt like the Milwaukee office and location and clients here were interested in IT talent, in getting new talent."
