MSI Data, one of the largest software product companies in the Milwaukee area, is beefing up its senior executive team.

The Bayside-based company, which ranks third on the Milwaukee Business Journal's list of area software product companies, recently announced it has hired Craig Summers to be chief financial officer and promoted Naomi Corrie to vice president of delivery, where she will be responsible for customer satisfaction.

MSI's cloud-based software and mobile app allows companies that inspect or service products to more efficiently do so in the field. Through MSI Data's software-as-a-service system, work orders are automatically created and are accessible on smartphones and tablets for technicians. The online tool also provides information and history of work performed on products, helping companies reduce expenses that go toward labor and paperwork.

The company also promoted David Charland to vice president of product management and hired Ben Felda to be director of web development. MSI has roughly 100 employees in the Milwaukee area, with half being software engineers.

"These new team members and internal promotions reflect MSI's commitment to excellence," said Geoff Surkamer, MSI's CEO, in a statement. "We have built a high performing team that requires we recruit, retain, and recognize individuals for their leadership and contributions. They're passionate team players who consistently develop new strategies that exceed clients' expectations while growing our business."

In 2019, San Francisco private equity firm Luminate Capital Partners, which specializes in investments in software companies, bought a majority stake in MSI. With the investment from Luminate, MSI planned to grow employment by as much as 25% by the end of 2019 and double its payroll within a three-year period.
