A Denver startup is moving its headquarters to Green Bay this year after receiving funding from TitletownTech, a tech hub and venture fund led by the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft.
TitletownTech announced this week that it invested in Quantum Radius, a startup developing faster video processing technology. The company, founded in 2019 by Frank Christofferson and Tim Wahlers, aims to improve bandwidth inefficiency and eliminate lag from real-time video streaming. Its eyeing virtual and augmented reality, medical, e-sports and other industries.
"Our technology aims to transmit interactive video 100 times faster than Netflix streaming and 10 times faster than Google Stadia," Christofferson said in a statement. "This breakthrough has the potential to unleash amazing, impactful applications that may change how we all work and play in the online world."
The size of the investment was not disclosed, but TitletownTech typically writes checks between $100,000 and $1 million.
TitletownTech officially launched in October 2019 and includes an innovation lab, venture studio and $25 million VC fund. The fund has invested in more than 10 startups to date, including leading an $8 million round in Oculogica, a digital healthcare company that helps diagnose concussions.
TitletownTech’s first fund is expected to invest in 18 startups, Managing Director Craig Dickman previously told Wisconsin Inno, and it anticipates backing 10 companies that are Wisconsin-based.
TitletownTech's ability to not only invest in local upstarts, but to attract outside companies to the region, could catalyze Green Bay's startup ecosystem.
“Our partnership with Tim and Frank demonstrates TitletownTech’s potential to grow world-class technology startups right here in Green Bay,” Neil Mix, a partner at TitletownTech, said in a statement.
