An information technology consulting startup from Chicago is expanding into Milwaukee and has chosen the city’s newest coworking space as its secondary home.

EGuide Tech Allies, founded by Gregory Perrine in 2016, will begin operations in Milwaukee in January and is planning to work from the Novel Coworking building in downtown Milwaukee near Cathedral Square.

Chicago-based Novel Coworking purchased the mid-1980s-built building at 790 N. Milwaukee St. in April and said it would spend more than $3 million renovating it into modern offices for smaller tenants.

Jorie Wilkos is leading eGuide’s expansion in Milwaukee, where the company plans to grow its client list to as many as 20 small businesses. The company is offering its services to nonprofits, entrepreneurs and small business of 25 employees or less. Its range of services include website design, social media strategy, IT support, migration to the cloud and brand development.

“Jorie is the perfect mix of hospitality and tech-savviness to really impact a business the way we were able to in Chicago,” Perrine said. “It takes empathy, patience, and expertise to change an organization’s relationship with technology.”

Perrine expects to grow his Milwaukee team to four by the end of 2021.

The downtown building is Novel’s first location in Milwaukee, but the Chicago firm has more than 30 across the United States. The company previously said it would open a location in Madison in June. At the 70,000-square-foot building, Novel offers everything from shared coworking desks for $129 a month, up to 5,000-square-foot suites for about $2,799.

Tenants in the building share an event space of about 4,500 square feet, mini conference rooms, fiber-optic data and unlimited coffee, tea and beer.
