Apple's "Find My iPhone" feature brought peace of mind to anyone who's ever left their phone in a cab or turned their house upside down looking for a missing phone. Now, Madison tech company Propeller Health is bringing that same convenience to something even more important: your inhaler.

Propeller, maker of “smart inhalers” that use sensors to help patients better manage respiratory conditions, announced this week that it has launched an update to its Find My Inhaler feature where users can now "ring" their inhaler if it's lost. Using the Propeller app, users can now tap “Ring Sensor,” which will prompt the sensor on a person's inhaler to make a sound. Previously, Find My Inhaler only gave users the last known location of their inhaler on a map.

“We heard from our users that it’s easy to misplace an inhaler, whether it’s in a purse, down the side of a chair or in a coat pocket,” Propeller CTO Greg Tracy said in a statement. “This update to Find My Inhaler is intended to make it quick and easy for users to find their inhaler with the same tool they use to manage their condition every day.”

The Propeller app also lets patients track their medication use, record their symptoms, and receive environmental forecasts that may affect their asthma or COPD conditions.

Propeller, founded in 2010, was acquired by San Diego-based RedMed for $225 million in 2018. It raised around $70 million in venture funding before the acquisition. It also has a partnership with Walgreens that allows Walgreens customers to manage their asthma or COPD medication in the Propeller app.
