If you're looking for the best office perks in Wisconsin, a new gig at Madison startup EatStreet takes the cake, er, the cheese.

This week EatStreet unveiled its "Curd Nerd," an employee who will travel across the state to find Wisconsin's best cheese curds. The contest, which was officially announced last month, asked for someone with a "big personality and a passion for storytelling" to fill the role.

After more than 900 applications, EatStreet announced that Madison resident Chris Attaway was picked to help find Wisconsin's best curds. She'll be paid $1,000 plus expenses to partake in a 10-day road trip through Madison, Green Bay, Appleton, Eau Claire and more Wisconsin cities to test as many cheese curds as possible. The campaign kicked off yesterday in Janesville and finishes Oct. 26 in Eau Claire.

EatStreet said Attaway was selected for her enthusiasm and an "affection for all things curd." She's the founder of Epicurean Chronicles, which is dedicated to her exploration of Wisconsin’s historical cuisine.

“Honestly, I’ve been preparing for this position all my life,” Attaway said in a statement. “This, frankly, may be the most important job in Wisconsin – or at least the coolest – and I definitely won’t disappoint. This is a calling from the curds that I’m ready to answer.”

She'll also be taking over EatStreet social media channels during the road trip to chronicle her journey and report on the state's best cheese curds.

Founded in 2010, EatStreet’s online food delivery service serves over 250 cities, connecting customers to more than 15,000 restaurants. The startup has $45 million in funding, and employs more than 1,000 people in Madison.
