A New York-based co-working firm is expanding its presence in Wisconsin with a new shared workspace set to open in the Madison area.
Serendipity Labs announced Wednesday that it will open a co-working space on the sixth floor of 525 Junction Rd. in Middleton. The 23,000 sq. ft. space is expected to open this summer.
The Madison-area location will be Serendipity's second Wisconsin co-working space. Serendipity announced last November that it planned to open a space at The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa. The two Wisconsin locations are among the New York firm's growing Midwest presence, which also includes locations in Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Columbus.
Serendipity has co-working spaces in 30 metropolitan areas across the country. Founded in 2011, it has raised more than $100 million in outside funding.
The new location, dubbed Serendipity Labs Madison -Middleton, will be led by Ryan Jacobson, who will own the location as a franchisee. Jacobson has 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry as a franchise owner of several hotels, including Comfort Suites and Sleep Inn & Suites.
Serendipity's Middleton location will feature offices for one to ten people and can accommodate custom-built suites for up to 50, the company said. It will include a co-working lounge, café, and meeting and event spaces. The co-working space will also feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Madison.
"We are thrilled to be growing our brand of shared offices and co-working in Wisconsin and look forward to serving the community both locally and when they travel across the country," John Arenas, chairman and CEO of Serendipity Labs, said in a statement.
