Band of Coders, a customer software development company headquartered in Atlanta, has opened up its first Wisconsin office.

Senior software developer, Steve Balistreri, will head up the new shop in Milwaukee. The lifelong Wisconsinite and former fine art student, first began coding for fun before turning developing into a full-time job.

In addition to turning around struggling web development departments, the company says Balistreri had successfully consulted on a number of startup and enterprise organizations in areas such as fraud management, financial products, field services management, insurance underwriting and cloud management.

The Band of Coder’s expansion into Milwaukee marks the company’s ninth office. The latest office is located at The Hudson, a tech and startup hub located in Milwaukee’s Third Ward neighborhood.

The company was founded by longtime technology executive and entrepreneur Bobby John more than 17 years ago. Since then, Band of Coders has completed software development projects for several Fortune 500 firms and venture-funded startups.

“The choice to open a new office in Milwaukee was simple,” says John, who serves as CEO. “Milwaukee has some of the best tech talent in the United States. Most importantly, we found a great leader in Milwaukee, Steve Balistreri.”

Balistreri says the opportunity came at the perfect time.

“I’m excited to bring world-class software development to serve our Milwaukee community,” he added.
