Kohler just unveiled a new line of internet-connected bathroom products, highlighted by a smart toilet that works with Alexa and can automatically open and close the lid.
In advance of the company's showcase at CES, the annual tech conference taking place Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas, Wisconsin-based Kohler announced the launch of the Numi 2.0, an "intelligent toilet" that does a bunch of fancy things your ordinary boring toilet probably can't do.
For starters, it comes equipped with built-in speakers and works with Amazon Alexa, allowing users to use voice commands to play music or ask Alexa the weather. It also features multi-colored ambient and surround lighting, making it easier to find in the dark.
The Numi can also open the lid for you when you approach the toilet, and close the lid once you're finished. It also has automatic flushing, automatic deodorization, a heated seat, a foot warmer and personalized cleansing capabilities.
However, the Numi isn't available to shoppers quite yet. Kohler says it will be available for purchase later this year.
The smart toilet is part of a suite of new kitchen and bath products Kohler is rolling out at CES this year, including a voice-activated lighted mirror, a voice-activated shower system and a motion-sensor kitchen faucet.
“Connected technology is driving innovation in the smart home category, but connectivity alone isn’t enough," David Kohler, president and CEO of Kohler, said in a statement. "We believe in leading with design and seamlessly incorporating the right technologies so that our customers can personalize their bathroom experiences to be just right for them."
