Chicago software company 8th Light has acquired Adorable, a Madison, Wisc.-based tech startup that makes custom software and web platforms.

As part of the acquisition, announced Sunday in an 8th Light blog post, Adorable’s 11 developers and designers are joining 8th Light, but keeping their offices in Madison. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Adorable has done some amazing work in the community, and we’re thrilled to be able to leverage 8th Light’s resources to deepen our investments and spread these initiatives to new communities,” said 8th Light CEO Paul Pagel in the blog post.

8th Light, founded in 2006, designs, creates and manages custom software for businesses. Besides Chicago, the company has offices in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and London. Across all its locations, 8th Light employs 140 people and its annual revenue ranges from $22 million to $25 million, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. In 2016, 8th Light also acquired WisdomGroup, a Chicago company that designs and develops web apps for companies.

Adorable, founded in 2013 by Jim Remsik, has clients like Blue Box and Oryx Systems. In partnership with the YWCA, Adorable founded the YWeb Career Academy, a bootcamp that teaches women and minorities to write software.

“As 8th Light continues to grow, we continue to discover new ways to improve the quality of software in the world," Pagel said. "Our new colleagues will help expand our partnerships and deepen our ability to impact our clients and our communities, and we could not be more excited about the work we will get to do together."
