Green Bay venture capital firm TitletownTech has invested in Croux, a startup in Birmingham, Alabama, that is attempting to solve the problem of staffing shortages in the hospitality industry.
Croux's platform connects talent with flexible work opportunities and is focused on the service industry. TitletownTech led the startup's $1 million pre-seed funding round, according to a recent post on Croux's LinkedIn page.
“Croux is a thought leader in the future of work and is providing talent more flexibility while empowering businesses with a dynamic and qualified workforce,” TitletownTech managing director Jill Enos said in a statement.
Founded in 2021 by restaurant industry veterans including CEO Jennifer Ryan, Croux says its platform allows businesses to post shifts and fill them with screened talent more efficiently and cost-effectively than traditional staffing agencies.
Croux will use the pre-seed funding for product development, technology hiring and strategic partnerships across the southeast. The startup's platform is live in several Alabama cities as well as in Atlanta.
TitletownTech is a partnership between the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft Corp. that invests in early-stage startups across the U.S. and Canada with a bias toward companies in Wisconsin or that are attracted to the state. Earlier this year, it invested in a supply chain startup in Chicago called Tusk Logistics.
TitletownTech is currently investing out of its second venture capital fund. The firm was looking to raise $80 million for that fund, according to previous Wisconsin Inno reporting and a June 2022 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The firm's first fund consisted of $25 million that it used to back 23 startups.
